    What are the Chances of Getting Huntington's disease?

    Many members of my family suffer from Huntington disease. What are the Chances of Getting Huntington's Disease (HD)? my mother and father ages are over fifty-year-old and they did not show symptoms

    Huntington's disease is an autosomal dominant condition. That means, if one parent is affected, the children have a 50% chance of developing this condition.

    The clinical features of this condition usually become obvious between 35-45 years of age. Since both your parents are still fine, you getting this disease are very unlikely. You may opt for genetic testing too, which is a blood test that look for the genetic abnormality in your chromosomes.
