    Subclavian CVP line insertion

This was a middle aged man who had COPD and pneumonia and was on NIPPV.

The morning NIPPV was withdrawn (after weaning) he developed desaturation and I had to intubate him while on the morning ward rounds.

Soon after we placed this CVP line (see video).
Since our staff were more used to Internal Jugular placements and I had been brought up on subclavians I felt it would be appropriate to demonstrate a subclavian placement for benefit of others.

I wish I could have edited the film (taken by one of our medical students)and inserted voice etc to explain what is going on and clip the draggy bits. Perhaps will do so at a later date.
