Diabetic factors associated with gastrointestinal symptoms
Diabetes is known to be associated with gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms. Several mechanisms have been implicated in the pathogenesis of GI symptoms; however, there are inconsistencies due to the different ethnic groups and populations studied. A research group in Korea found that Type 2 diabetes was associated with an increased prevalence of upper GI symptoms and these symptoms appeared to be independently linked to poor glycemic control as measured by HbA1c levels.
