CAD With LV Dysfunction Ischmic Refractory / Refractory Cardia Failure (M5.1.5)
Hi ,
Can somebody explain to me
"CAD With LV Dysfunction Ischemic Refractory / Refractory Cardiac Failure (M5.1.5) "
This disease was accidently discovered, on evaluation of back pain, that occurred during walking only and The ECG was abnormal showing Left ventricle dysfunction, Although an Angiogram was done, but no blocks of arteries was found.
Can somebody elaborate me on this disease and how it is diffrence from myocardial infarction and the necessary steps to be taken in terms of medication and diet.
For the information :
The Person is obese male (BMI 32.5) ,65 years old , but does not have diabetes and BP is normal and he was a Smoker around 20 years back
Thanks
Kevin

Hi,
CAD means coronary artery disease. Coronaries are the arteries that supply blood to heart wall muscles. A block in them is responsible for the heart attack (myocardial infarction).
LV means left ventricle. It is the chamber of the heart responsible for pumping blood to various body organs. The wall muscles of that chamber are not functioning well as per the report.
Refractory cardiac failure is when the LV dysfunction has not significantly responded to the usual modes of medical therapy.
Summary:
What the patient has is an abnormality of heart function without any significant block in the coronary arteries. This is not myocardial infarction, but a lower grade of that condition.
Since the coronary arteries are normal, angioplasty or bypass surgery are not required and the patient needs medical management with regular medications and follow-up.
